Dancing
was it only a means to happiness, or was it a means of survival for ancient humans? Helping to survive the oldest of the oldest years
Funny dancing
in lines Dance plays an important role in all human societies that researchers know about. But does its ubiquity imply a survival advantage, or is it just a by-product of the evolution of humans with large brains and upright stature? The ability to dance depends on a neural process in which coordination - or synchronization - is achieved between the so-called motor neurons, which control muscles, and the auditory signals sensed by sensory neurons. Until recently, researchers assumed that only humans had the ability to achieve this synchrony, but hummingbirds, parrots, and a female Californian sea lion have also been shown to have this talent. Further research in a number of different fields has revealed that the genesis of dance is complex.
